About the neighborhood

Malleswaram was reclaimed from the forest in the late 19th century after the city centre was destroyed by Plague. Over the years it has become a hub for creative and cultural activities. Home to India’s premier educational institution the Indian Institute of Science, Malleswaram has been the choice of residence for many cultural icons of Bangalore like Sr CV Raman, the Nobel laureate, Kasturirangan the Space Scientist, renowned Kannada poet and writer G.P. Rajarathnam, Prakash Padukone the Badminton maestro and Saroja Devi the Film Actress. Chowdiah Memorial the famous concert hall built in the shape of a violin, is located here.

The walk is led by a cultural evangelist who will help you experience the culture of the city through its food. He will help you discover local eateries tucked away from tourist route which the locals love.
